Mile High
Spent the week in Connecticut and I was worried about the return trip through Denver. I got lucky and caught the last flight back to Durango Friday A.M....as the flight just one hour later was canceled. All I saw was a sea of white until the misty skies opened up somewhere over Vallecito.....looked at the terrain below and whew, we dodge the white bullet. Friday afternoon was too soggy to hit dirt, but not on Saturday and by Sunday it was sleeveless riding in the low 70s. Two rides, both 50 miles, and well over 2 miles of climbing on all of the usual favorites: Horse Gulch/Telegraph, College, Test Tracks, Animas/Sailing Hawk, Log Chutes, and yes, even the Colorado Trail up to the "high point" before you drop down to the bridge on the way to Gudys. With the weeks weather prediction coming, we should be hitting Gudy's by Friday, and perhaps Hoffheins by mid next week.

Dawn til less Dawnier
The best spins are the ones before your plane takes off.
The neighborhood sure has a lot to offer.
And Telegraph is back and dry.
Moots in action.
Dunno why I'm using 2 fingers.
Scenic Vista
The Moots takes a rest on the bench.
Thermal Jacket got a bit warm.
So lets go down to the river.
And hit some jumps at the BMX Track.
Then spin home very nicely.

Dusk til Duskier
With the Dawn-til-Dusk Race cancelled due to snow, I got home on put in one hellofa a road ride on Sunday. But it while the beat down up to Ski Town got the blood flowing, the call for dirt still had not been met.
Time for Animas (again). I did Atalaya over 30 times a couple of years ago, and that was over 60-miles away from my house. This one is less than 3, or if you take the single track route, then it starts out my front door. I wonder how many times I'll crest here this year?
The Moots is awakened from it's winter slumber and ready to rumble. Beware!
The views never get old.
The cliffs around here are awesome. Last week I rode up Raiders Ridge and as I crested a bluff I saw two HUGE Vultures. They took off in slow motion, just a strong jump in the wind and then slow motion flapping of the wings and then then sailed below. Today I saw the same thing with their evil cousin, the meat eating charcoal colored Dromaeosauridae Velociraptor that through Evolution has scientifically morphed into some that they call Big Effing Damien the Omen Blackbirds. Evil birds, but watching them circle in the sky was pretty cool. Sucks to be a Chipmunk with these bastards in the sky though.
Hey you can see my home from here, and not to mention some of the trail I rode en route.
Ran into Mitch on the trails stomping out a loop while Brady Devoed the dirt. Cool time for the young-un.
Then stopped to see some kayakers lash together for a little break.
All in all a successful after work ride.
Nice.
