9 Days Down

Whew that head cold put me down a while, but it did help out Jeni as she got plenty of time to herself this last week.  I got back into a weight lifting routine - and started with the legs, and then it hurt to walk for a while.  Well it still does actually.  The running started back up and today i'm going to try for a bike ride.  I would almost rather run just to save time, but I do want to get out on the wheels once before the year ends.

Apparently getting a head cold after your wife gives birth is the trendy thing to do, as our friend Erik has been laid up as well after Alice gave birth.  I do not suggest this for others though.  Actually though, birthing room No.3 at Mercy is where we both had our kids and I'm guessing Erik and I both picked it up in that there room - even with all the germ killing gels, masks, etc.

I'm a bit bummed the head cold kept me off of the ridge with all of this awesome weather - it is such a blast running up there.  If there is more snow the ridge opens, when it slowly melts it exposes mud patches of slick peanut butter like caliche soil.  It may not look like it in the picture, but it is an 800-ft climb up to the top of the ridge, then about a 5 mile run up there.  Throw in the college and it gives me a great 10 miles loop.  If i get up in time before the thaw, I should be able to run this over the weekend.  I know some people don't mind the mud running, but I just see it as poor trail etiquette.
